With the War news so confusing, MIles called for a special session of Boomers and Tweeners. The general answer is that Iran itself is no longer a place with stringent control of their communications and it will take a few days to calm down. But calm they must, or the machinery tomake it work with begin to fail and brackish water will foul the system.

Our Zoom contingent was more concerned about what was happening over in the Westover neighborhood of East Falls Church.

The event was a special one for the ladies, since the story of the Black Forest Inn’s demise and resurrection joins old and new in the gentrifying neighborhood where little square houses some of us lived in now have decimal points in the asking price. The interest for the women was the makeover re-opening of the Westover Taco joint that followed Black Forest’s demise. It is now the Westover Women’s Sports Bar., seven screens and plenty of stools. That came with the startling news that there are two tackle football teams in NoVA that do not need jockstraps.

The DIVAS and the PRODIGY. They do not have a face-to-face match in Spring ball, so we are hoping the scheduler wake up and start injecting some passion.

That naturally caused a turmoil, since the Diva’s QB Lois Cook is dramatic on the field and in her outreach for a sport we are going to be following this fall!

For the Boomers, the Black Forest Inn had been a long-standing Dive, with a capital “D.” It was a warm dark place with friendly regulars who liked to chat. It was right next Ayers Hardware store and provided a place to think about what real materials were needed for the weekend chores and sometimes to just forget about them since the Home Depot up Route 50 has no tacos and tequila in the parking lot. There were closer dives to the Pentagon where most of the Boomers had spent time, but lunches with a stop at the Italian store up past Ayer’s hardware where plastic stacks of soil grace the front door in spring.

This is a place worth supporting and worth a visit. if we can provide enough support, the Divas-Prodigy game is going to be a humdinger!
