It is Juneteenth today, the celebration of Emancipation Day, a Federal Day of Thanks for the ending of chattel slavery here in 1865. And whatever is going on in this world when something like it seems to have returned to these shores only a few years ago.

It would be easy to lose track of who is doing what to whom these days, so here is a quick score card on who we are dealing with in Iran. The son of the Supreme Leader we executed in the surprirse strike seems to be regaining some of his health, The three heard-line clerics who have been keeping his seat warm authorized their signatures on the memo they claim has some understanding in it. We do not include out limited audience on that aspect.

There is another fellow hanging around though. He is a man so serene in his leadership that he has not increased his number of general’s stars beyond one single spiked device on his shoulders.
