This is the view from the North East corner of Socotra Island, looking west. It is where some of this nonsense started when some of the current grand stand of people arrived to cheer the misadventures as the Persians and the Americans do their joustings at one another. And jeer.

The ‘news’ from here is not particularly noteworthy. There are some young men down there who have been encouraged to take up dome of the traditionally load-bearing crafts endemic to the region, That includes loading up a couple rocket-propelled grenades, an AK-47 and fire up the family motor boat and see what might be for lunch, sailing on the waters approaching the Bab al Mandeb waterway.

Looking west from Socotra, you can see why Vic and his cadre of sailors thought they might establish their own San Diego on the north shore of the wild windswept island. The spirit, like the winds, has caressed the strands of warm memory of a pleasant waterway alive with emotion.
