This is already a busy morning now that Miles is back, though he is still digging out from the big pile near his seat at the Conference Table. He told me to do something quick and tasty for the seven other folks who were drinking Black Rifle Coffee and attempting to look awake.

Six states are having primaries today- Alabama, Connecticut, Minnesota, South Carolina, Vermont and Wisconsin, and there are a lot of emotional people headed to the polls to support the radical left wing of a group in the process of taking over the old center-left Democratic Party and making it something quite different.

We will know more about that shortly, but the common-sense explanation for their success so far is the high emotion demonstrated by high turnout in low-profile primary contests. The calculus in the General Election is likely to be quite different, but that does not change today’s excitement, in which some people view the barbarians coming over the ramparts waving red flags.

And we will be watching the winds and clouds today with interest as the returns come in this evening, while praying for clear skies to observe the big celestial carnival to our northeast tonight.

The Perseid Meteor Shower has commenced, though the peak will come tomorrow night into Thursday morning, with its radiant in the constellation Perseus rising conveniently beyond the Rotonda Building’s East Tower across the parking lot.

If the clouds clear, there will be essentially no moonlight competing with the star streaks. The New Moon arrives with the peak, providing what the smart folks say could be exceptional viewing conditions.

We will see what those same smart folks say about the new political arrivals once the primary results are in.

For the moment, that news is running above the news from the war overseas. The IRGC hardliners reportedly have demanded reparations for the U.S. strikes earlier this summer. The President’s response was characteristically brief: he would consider compensation after the Iranians paid for the Americans he says Iran has killed over the last half-century.

So there is plenty to watch today—at the polls, overseas and, with luck, in the heavens above the Conference Room.

The Mid-terms are only twelve weeks away!
