Friday Watch: Before Breakfast

Friday Watch: Before Breakfast

VIRGINIA BEACH | HAPPY HOUR FRONT
What was going on back here wasn’t much new. Maybe more by Happy Hour.
Then it starts all over again.
Or more accurately, the afternoon slides into evening while the smart Persians on the other side of the globe try to figure out the best play available to them as oil flow shuts down and the wells begin eating themselves permanently into the rock around the pipes.
That is what they are sleeping on tonight in Tehran.
Something timed to arrive before breakfast in America.
Which is why we present the meals that kept Protesting strong:

THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BRIDGE
There are smart people in Iran who live on the other side of a bridge from home.
Think about that for a minute.
Imagine some hard-faced foreign authority strolling into your living room and announcing you cannot walk to your own kitchen without permission issued by somebody three thousand miles away.
That sort of thing changes people.

WEEKEND AMERICA
Two worlds running simultaneously.

OVERNIGHT WATCH
More of this in about four hours.
They will try to have something ready for us before breakfast.
What do they roll out tomorrow morning?
Something to energize us?
Frighten us?
Succor us?
Distract us?
It changes how they think.
How they sleep.
How they negotiate.
How they threaten.
How they endure.
Meanwhile here:
traffic,
beer taps,
shore breeze,
television noise,
gas stations,
weekend plans,
base traffic,
The ordinary machinery of Friday evening.
One side wondering about tomorrow’s media cycle.
The other wondering whether pressure inside a field line
Or export terminal becomes irreversible before dawn.
