Climate Week in NYC

The component parts of the Big Week are coming into somewhat sharper focus, now that some of the jet exhaust has blown away in the big Nor’easter along the coast.
We’re ready to settle down and see what may have happened with the two major conflicts still simmering.
One of the Big Moments in the Big Week’s Big Pomp was President Trump escorting the Chinese leader to see a copy of the Constitution, 250 years old this summer.
It was a powerful gesture. Though we might have preferred a sit-down aimed at changing the government in Tehran and reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
With all the related issues of war, Taiwan, and trade, it wasn’t surprising that the people who deal in End of the World landed right on top of the Big Week. Their issue didn’t get much attention amid the rockets and the other big headlines: Climate Week NYC.
Promoters describe it as “the world’s largest climate event,” bringing more than 100,000 people to over 1,000 events across New York City. They didn’t limit themselves to Midtown, probably because the hotels were already crowded.
Organizers say Climate Week will connect global leaders with communities working “on the ground” to build a low-carbon future.
That’s the one with the electric vehicles—and the inadequate national charging network needed to charge them.
Judging by the promotional material, New York should have been overflowing with climate activism. But, like everyone else, the climate crowd had to compete with all the rockets for our attention. The weather—and what may or may not be changing about it—was one more thing falling out of the Big Week.
A little warmer weather might be good for us: fewer hurricanes, better crop yields, and fewer deaths from cold. The other news is that people are tired of hearing that driving our cars will bring on the end of the world.
Or, more precisely, our world.
Which brings us around to Holly and the ribs she got through Autumn Olive Farms’ quarterly bulk buy.

If you get a chance, enjoy the ribs. And don’t worry if the air seems to be coming out of the Climate Scare. We
understand the Artificial Super Intelligence Systems are coming to eat our lunch! Just wait- we can have a week about it in New York next year!
