Arrias: Petite Faerie
Green giants wrapped in cloaks of gray,
More than a hundred feet tall,
A still morning, silently they stand,
Listening to the cicadas call.
A happy brown dog and a petite faerie
Skip along, they greet the dawn,
She laughs and sings as the puppy barks,
The Muse dancing on a dew-covered lawn…
One by one the giants shed gray cloaks,
To the heavens rises the mist,
The giants emerge in darkest green,
As by the Sun each tree is kissed.
Hummingbirds are about, a dozen songbirds sing,
Clouds are breaking, the Sun is up,
The petite faerie vanishes into the wood,
And on her heels the little brown pup.
She lurks in the shadows through the day
She’ll come out again ere the dawn,
And with the little brown dog laugh and sing,
And dance and play on the dew-covered lawn.
