Well, we started the big labor-saving Artificial Intelligence experiment a week ago today. You may have observed that the task has destoryed ordinary regular production in a sea of news, current affairs and political mayhem.

We have generated about zip-squat on anything publishable. Well, except for some rough outlines, which is impressive for a machine, but actually produces nothing I had not already submitted in much great detail. Like the cartoon above. The is the ChatGPT5 version of the cartoon Vic’s Dad did back in 1945 when he was a flight student down at Pensacola.

This was Dad’s version, drawn in 1945, with the Socotra emblem added to the cap and the keffiyah scarf t lend some currency. Why are we boring you with this on a Hump Day Wednesday?

The ChatGPT thing is still promising something in eight or ten minutes. It has been telling me that since last Wednesday. We will give you an honest assessment if we can figure out when it will produce something useful.
