Meeting Mike

Vic was sort of out of sorts with his experiment. The only way he had known his grandfathers were in musty, faded images in black and white that had faded into a sort of sepia. He had started with the direction from Section Leader Miles to see if he could generate a complete new manuscript of some old material with the assistance of ChatGPT, and artificial intelligence program available on the Internet with a single click.
So, upper right is the only image of his mother’s father. At the time, he was a Doughboy with the American Expeditionary Force in France in 1918. The image appears to show a young man of indeterminate aspect. ChatGPT is under attack at the moment for the alleged offense of encouraging young users to commit suicide.
Vic ran an old picture of his father’s father, and it came back with this somewhat fierce image:

That is the stern grandfather who popped out the end of the ChaptGPT manipulation. In the publicity about Chat, there was reference to an AI product issued by our friends at Google, who have arguably changed out world. Vic could not continue with the GPT program, since it issued stern warnings not to alter or refresh the current screen because if he did, the whole process needed to be re-started.
The algorithm has been telling him that for nine days now. It may lurch to some sort of completion soon. In the meantime, Vic dragged out his iPad and dialed up Googe Gemini to see what would happen.
Here he is. Vic has been waving it around, holding it next to his face to show the resemblance, created only 80-odd years after his black and white death. Meet Mike!
