Miles looked up from the screen at the end of the Conference Table. Rocket and Splash had gone away someplace they claimed needed attention. Deirdre and Holly were working on some emerging issues in the Galley. Kieth and the Kids were attempting to figure out how we are going to manage things next week, and […]

It was a small-craft-advisory sort of day here in DELMARVA. The morning exuberance had been tempered by clouds, despite Deirdre’s invitation to a campanito drink mixed and served in the customary brown ceramic cups. The gray skies produced enough wind and turmoil to disrupt the web connection on the roof, and it was not until […]

Well, that didn’t take long! I don’t mean the crowd that went to the Arlington County Fair to get their Fifteen Minute County Participation Stamps is back. i assume they will be back acting raucus after happy hour . We mentioned the attack on the World War II Memorial this morning and said Judge Jeanine […]

EXTRA! EXTRA! Hi! It is Vic, and the Crowd left me behind to watch the screen and answer the phones while they spend the afternoon trying to catch a break from all the messaging going around town on the seven or eight crises in progress. Miles got a mention in for most of them this […]

Kilauea goes off! Busy morning. Vic and Splash both had time in Pearl Harbor, so news about what was happening in the island chain was of personal interest to them. And of at least general interest to all the Old Hands with Pacific experience. This has been an extended tropical spectacle, since just two weeks […]

We had a conference this morning, the mid-week resumption of the regular Production Planning meetings which turned into 24×7 watch operations when the war overseas heated up. Things came to a nervous collapse in late June when Miles and some of his old shipmates were called back down to the Five-Sided Adult Care Facility in […]

No, I am not going to lurch off into a detailed analysis of animal husbandry out in the verdant Shenandoah Valley. It is too late in the day, and I’m permitting myself a glass of vino tino to welcome in the Happy Hour rush in the Galley. If this were a morning release, it would […]

On August 12, a total solar eclipse, the peak of the Perseid meteor shower, and a new moon will occur, making it a significant day for skywatching. Observers can expect to see up to 100 meteors per hour during the meteor shower if conditions are clear.
