A Day for Veterans- and Others

A Day for Veterans- and Others

In 1918 — 107 years ago today — at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, fighting between the Allied Forces and Germany stopped, ending World War I. The date was originally commemorated with the intent of celebrating peace.

In 1954, Armistice Day was changed to the more inclusive Veterans Day, to thank all who had served the United States. We honor the Vets today, and below will display the family members who have served in most of the conflicts of the last 250 years. But first we thought we should show what the boys were fighting to preserve. This lovely girl was hoping to meet the young man in the lower left mugshot when he returned from France in 1918, his duty done. Until he met her.
