Swamp Postcard: Nobels, Fires and Flames!

Morning, fellow citizens! Another day surfing down the roiling cascade of information, leading to something some pundits say is really important.

I forget what that is.

The outlines of it are there, certainly. One of the headlines blared this morning that the Center for Disease Control, the Government agency responsible for dealing with epidemics, is ignoring an executive order to cease mandatory training training on exciting developments in something called “race theory.” The last such training I received dealt with the 440 foot race, and is clearly outmoded by superior thinking. Apparently the dedicated cadre at the CDC have decided they need to keep the Science-based faith, regardless of what their Boss thinks. And whatever orders might be issued.

It is getting better all over. Being a State Governor apparently has way more power than it used to, just ask ours. They just passed a law in the House of Delegates saying we can sue our biased law enforcement people for inappropriate conduct on the job. It is about time.

It is quite remarkable. In the Government we served, such conduct would have been called “insubordination,” and come with some sort of consequence. Revelations poured forth yesterday that the Special Counsel office ostensibly headed by Mr. Mueller erased the phone logs on 21 devices issued to his Team before returning them to the Department of Justice. It was all OK, we are told, they were “just returned to factory settings.” Some of them twice, for extra security.

I would be sitting in Leavenworth if I had done the same to my phone. But those were old rules, and under our new system barely worth a shrug. Thankfully, we have moved on from concerns about compliance with old laws with the enhanced realization that they were the products of systematic institutional injustice.

In fact, it is refreshing to realize we have entered a new form of government. It is one that apparently includes the three branches we learned about in Civics long ago. You know, the Executive, Legislative and Judicial- and has added some exciting new ones. We now have a revised First Amendment that permits free speech only if it agrees with what must be done as Science or something says. This permits completely new and exciting streams of information, conveniently extraneous to the way things used to be done. Forward!

Can you imagine there was a time when state Governors couldn’t overturn the Constitution at their will? It is getting confusing to think of what states best accommodate modest disagreement. South Dakota is large, but despite what some people say, it is probably not big enough to accommodate the deplorable minority. Thank goodness they are doing it for our own good, since many of us actually remember the way things used to work. This is much more streamlined and efficient, since we no longer have to figure it out on our own. Besides, the venting of my poisonous lungs through the mask fogs up my glasses.

Naturally, I completely support whatever novel concepts they come up with. The New York Times, a newspaper of immense prestige and impartiality, is even making up history in their daily reporting. It is humbling to be part of it. The showpiece was the issuance of the now famous “1619 Project,” which explains everything in a new way. Very cool. Not true, of course, or at least not true in an actual reality, but truthful in a higher sense. It is exciting to be part of the overthrow of what some claim was once a highly successful society. Remember, there are truther truths to embrace!

We all have a part in this. It will be exciting to participate in this great overthrow of- well, what I am not sure. That is another slightly confusing aspect of change, but we are getting it, albeit imperfectly. It all has to be hyphenated in a manner that the ills of society can be delivered direct to our doors each day. Otherwise it would be too long to manage. So, we are marching forward to the overthrow of our racist, patriarchal, -phobic (insert whatever), anti-translucent system.

It is a privilege to be part of this moment in history, building since 1619. The King of England will finally be deposed from these shores! This is going to be great!
