We are attempting to get ready for costumed appearances at the Building-sponsored holiday observance in The Trillium Lobby this afternoon. Start in six minutes!<\/p>\n
The subject of which gender we were going to assume to go down the eleator came up immediately, since it is a matter previously considered generally private, but now suddenly public in media, politics and the courts.<\/p>\n
We heard Texas Senate candidate Talarico explain that he was standing by his firm theological belief that there are six of them, and that God- him-or-her -was all of them.<\/p>\n
We assume he meant simultaneously, and naturally we agree. The Deity revered here at Socotra House is one who is all seeing, all knowing, with an existence across the eternities. All of them.<\/p>\n
So, with respect, in preliminary discussion, we started with a smaller number than 6. Something we could do without surgery or psychiatric assistance before the running-around this evening. We think the number should be more than just the two obvvious ones, though half a dozen is too complicated to deal with and lunch dishes being cleaned up means we can have an adult beverage and get ready for the afternoon festivities.<\/p>\n
Kelly is one of our Interns working in the Life Sciences section of our new Skilled Trades program. She is learning food services, logistics support and restaurant management. She has been sitting through the Production Meeting in the morning, hoping to learn something about sleepy, irritated, variously medicated and opinionated Creative Section types from our Boom and Zoom demographics.<\/p>\n
She said, AFTER a quick scan of her tablet, ‘You have forgotten that Mr. Talarico has an actual background in matters pertaining to faith and practice. I completely agree with what he said, if we give the background he didn’t. The citation he used about ‘Six Genders” is rooted in Jewish theological tradition.<\/p>\n
MIles immediately clicked his phone to get Fast Eddie down to review anything that might involve that demographic of the electorate, since In the Rabbinicl tradition, thousands of years in age, there are six categories he was not describing. These are usually interpreted as:<\/p>\n

\u201cSix genders\u201d is a simplified description, and only as an atlernative to Hippocratic terms. These ancient rabbinic categories concerning bodily characteristics, reproductive development, and how religious law applies. They do not map neatly onto today\u2019s gender identities, which are not about biology, but about feelings.<\/p>\n
Since those are infinite. it leads to the confusion we share today.<\/p>\n
So, rather than 2, 4 or six, we think the number of genders should be maybe ten. And we are not talking about the Diety,’s view of this minor controversy. It is ust about the people floating through the lobby, Conference Room and my Galley.<\/p>\n
Now, excuse us. We need to sweep the table clean for more fun things and get ready to go downstairs and start the next celebration!<\/p>\n
