We were going to putout a special Edition last night after the polls closed on the primary election in the Twenty-Minute County nexxt door. it is an exciting time here, since these figures have announced some pretty startling plans. Here they are, to start:<\/p>\n

In general order, Councilman McDuffie promises more of the same, with a budget shortfall of over a billion dollars that will be remedied by cutting inefficiencies. Councilwoman Janeese Lewis George promises to add 72,000 new homes, city-run grocery stores, universal child care and health benefits without raising taxes on working-class families. The President has said he will accept the challenge of Federalizing the city with the National Guard to retain order in case none of those things work.<\/p>\n

We won’t panic right now, though, since this is still unfolding. It seems clear what is going to happen in the General Election this Fall. The Socialist is ahead and likely to cruise to victory. it won’t be declared final for as many as a few days, though. This election features the addition of a strange ‘ranked choice’ process that orders candidates with less than 50% of the outright tally. So this isn’t final. but it looks like a Mamdani Summer may be coming for us here in the Fifteen-minute Counties next to the Twenty-Minute County on the east side of the Potomac Rive.
