HI! It’s Deirdre and i have the Conference Room and the Galley empty for a change. The Boomers won’t be back for a while and i can stretch out a little and get organized for the summer season. We are going to enjoy it here in North Fairfax. Temps in the upper seventies under brilliant blue skies and lavish sunshine.<\/p>\n

There is important stuff happening overseas- our Section Leader Miles disappeared late yesterday and that will give me the opportunity to not worry about the sixty-day cease fire Memo of Understanding or the act that some of the supply chain links involving all that oil has consequences that will take months and perhaps years to iron out again.<\/p>\n

And since MIles is absent, i asked Splash, Vic, Rocket and Vapor to help with a couple of the issues confronting us here in one of America’s richest counties. With all the talk about international waters being “open” or “closed,” we sort of got lost in the Missing Middle crisis here in Fairfax.<\/p>\n

Here is an example of what is happening with the lack of undeveloped land affordable housing and some of the increasingly vacant 1980s office buildings here in town. We have a sort of analogous situation at Socotra House, since some of us sleep over in the two cubical farms on the west end of our still-occupied complex. Here is what is happening over by the old HQ in Arlington:<\/p>\n

This was an item of interest to the Boomers, since they used to prop up the furnishings in the Lounge at Ruth’s Chris. We may take the Company SUV over and check out what some people think our future is going to look like.<\/p>\n

That line of investigation naturally led to a decision to stop at Ted’s, since the fancier Steakhouse doesn’t open until four. We intend to have a good head of investigative steam onboard by then, since June is coming tomorrow. We need to get another set of Hawaiian shirts out of the locker to be prepared.<\/p>\n

Since the graybeards were leaving to go look at real estate, that left Holly and me in the Conference Room with June coming tomorrow and no real estate stories available until the Boys get back. So, I have an opportunity to complete my essays on Parmesan Cheese, and how to stock the larder in times of crisis with three sections of people flowing through the office during the 24 x 7 times,<\/p>\n

Parmesan is important, and while I absolutely prefer an 86-pound Wheel of Parmiggio on a wheeled cart, the people at Kraft market a great labor saver, if you need great shelf-life, decent taste and no harmful issues except back problem from lifting the darn thing out of the back lower right in the fridge.<\/p>\n

They sell these things by the case. That means you can literally buy a lifetime supply for only five hundred bucks. Even the bean counters will appreciate what a bargain that is in these troubled times!<\/p>\n

Like the Man said, “Empires rise and fall, office towers become apartments, and the prudent citizen keeps enough Parmesan on hand to weather either event.”<\/p>\n
