But the sky – an inky black,<\/p>\n
Ghostly clouds dart silently by,<\/p>\n
A fleet of ships maneuvering for attack.<\/p>\n
Frost is building on the roof,<\/p>\n
With Thanksgiving a week away,<\/p>\n
The Dismal Swamp seems mighty cold<\/p>\n
In this mid Autumn day.<\/p>\n
Brew some tea, feed the dogs,<\/p>\n
Two deer glide silently o\u2019er the lawn,<\/p>\n
Sit by the fire – that feels nice!<\/p>\n
Still two hours before dawn.<\/p>\n
The dogs have curled up on their beds,<\/p>\n
They settle in with happy groans,<\/p>\n
A cheery fire starts its magic,<\/p>\n
Drives the chill from our bones\u2026<\/p>\n
Outside a biting wind still blows,<\/p>\n
To be back in bed might be good!<\/p>\n
Put another log on the fire,
\nWinter comes early to the wood.<\/p>\n
