The year began like any other,\nFull of hope, wonder, fear and surprises,

Last year was just the same in this,
\nA bright future beckoned to all,
\nWhat was possible or what would be,

\nStuttered and stammered a while.<\/p>\n
Over the year there grew many crises,
\nMere rumors blossomed into war,

\nYou\u2019ll just love the new insect diet.<\/p>\n
Yes, all us plebs will eat grasshoppers,

\nSo put up more fences \u2014 in Washington,

And China and the Commies continue

\nLock-downs, Oppression, Social credit scores,
\nBig Tech assists – With just one click!<\/p>\n
Monitored, tracked, and bugged,
\nEverything you say or do or think,
\nSoon Big Brother will monitor everything!

And China wants more and more,
\nMore Money, More Weapons, More Land,
\nHong Kong, Tibet, India, Taiwan,
\nAin\u2019t the CCP just grand?!?!<\/p>\n
Xi is really just a cuddly panda,

\nHe just wants to be everyone\u2019s daddy,
\nAnd You Better Do What You\u2019re Told!<\/p>\n
And of course there is Afghanistan,
\nThose guys really do take the prize,
\nThis year we gave a billon bucks
\nTo a country we don\u2019t even recognize.<\/p>\n
In Washington the madness continues,

\nWe shudder to lift all the covers
\nAnd find out what really lies beneath.<\/p>\n

\nProves once again what we know to be true,
\nNumbers don\u2019t really lie,
\nBut government statisticians do.<\/p>\n
Inflation highest in decades,
\nBut the truth is far worse than it looks,
\nUnemployment much worse than they tell us,
\nMore bureaucrats cookin\u2019 the books.<\/p>\n
The Fed was as usual part of the clown show,
\nExcept some guy in Phillie missed the brief,
\nAnd told the truth about the work force,
\nAs Charlie Brown would say: Good Grief!<\/p>\n
Where do we go from here,
\nHow does any of this end?
\nI\u2019m afraid I have bad news,
\nBased on the historical trend.<\/p>\n
None of this will end soon,
\nIf history is any guide,
\nSo for 2023 all I have to say is:
\nFasten your seat belts – it\u2019s gonna be a bumpy ride!<\/p>\n
