It’s got a military connotation with that “movement report” jargon. It was a more active day than normal yesterday, requiring detailed planning and extensive preparation. We uprooted from Farm to Town for management issues. Not quite lock-stock-and-whatever, but close enough. The Chairman indicates he will hold onto it for a while, just in case.<\/p>\n
We had been up early at The Farm. Grey skies, rain threatening. Country cold. We got a text from the moving crew with a link to a truck-tracker for time of arrival. It made the day for all subsequent events- they would arrive around nine, so things were off in a roar.<\/p>\n
Timing worked. The rain didn’t start until after the truck was loaded. The crew from MyGuy Movers was awesome. They were on-time and the three of them on the crew moved awkward loads with balance and a certain grace while traversing box-laden flooring and service elevators.<\/p>\n
Very strange departure from the Piedmont, since there were three of us headed north and three vehicles to be moved off the property. It was a formation approach back toward the capital, a convoy formed. It had been a while for that! Rural at first, with average speed and rational spacing. Then much more interesting approaching the eternal construction project that broadens I-66. Thirty-odd miles of it.<\/p>\n
Big Pink, our destination, was ready for our return. Truck parking not an issue and unloading a steady stream. Stephan- pronounced “Ste-Faan”- was the Verizon guy for the FIOS install. He showed up as scheduled, late afternoon, so matchless logistics ran the complete course of the major movement event.<\/p>\n
Now we are sitting on plush reclining chairs, bereft of electricity to operate due to failed planning. The initial phase of this deployment commences!<\/p>\n
