Boll weevils told Georgia farmers
\n“You don’t need no Ford machine
\nWe’ll eat up all of your cotton
\nWon’t need to buy no expensive gasoline”<\/p>\n
Here come northern political spiders
\nCrawling up and down our streets and houses\u2019 walls
\nThey\u2019s trying
\nTo boost their parties\u2019 voter hauls<\/p>\n
We cain’t see no water
\nBut we\u2019re about to drown
\nWe cain’t see no fire
\nBut we\u2019s burning down<\/p>\n
Political boll weevils ain’t got no natural home here. Lordie lord
\nCarpet baggin bugs, from up north where I was born n bred. Lordie lord
\nBoll weevils, political bugs, man, Georgia\u2019s not their native home. Lordie lord
\nThey come to eat our cotton and corn bread. Lordie lord<\/p>\n
Boll weevils left the north, Lord, not even saiyng “fare ye well.” Lordie lord
\nCrossed Virginia and the Carolinas, gonna give Georgia hell. Lordie lord
\nWell, we saw these door to door weevils a-circling in local Georgia air. Lordie lord
\nThe next time we seed em, Lord, carpet baggin political weevils bothering families next door. Lordie lord<\/p>\n
Postscript: Yeah, forty plus years ago we had our blue dogs and right minded southern Democrat boll weevils; but, they dint plague our front porches, eat our food or take our stuff.<\/p>\n

There weren’t any Republicans in George Washington’s day. No Republican or Democrat canvassers, no Boll Weevils, no income taxes, no cover charges, no disarmament treaties, no luncheon or book clubs, no stop lights, no static at all , no commutes, no head or tail winds. Living during those days was great. Lordie lord.<\/p>\n
