Accidents don\u2019t just happen,
\nGod isn\u2019t to be blamed,
\nYou made a bad decision,
\nNo matter how it\u2019s named.<\/p>\n

No one told you to spend money,
\nThat bills would come due is known,
\nAnd governments are no smarter,
\nWars don\u2019t start on their own.<\/p>\n

Printing presses don\u2019t print money,
\nPoliticians ordered it done,
\nEveryone knew what would happen,
\nLong before it was even begun.<\/p>\n

Take credit for something you didn\u2019t do,
\nBlame the last guy for your mess,
\nAnd tell me it\u2019s okay, even normal,
\nFor men to walk around in a dress.<\/p>\n

Up is down, left is right,
\nIt\u2019s okay to screw with kids genes,
\nMorals are paintings on cave walls,
\nThe ends justifies the means.<\/p>\n

Well, when everything goes sideways,
\nAnd when this all gets stuck in your throat,
\nWhen the chickens come home to roost,
\nDon\u2019t make God your scapegoat.<\/p>\n

But there was also the Tidewater Dawn:<\/p>\n

Morning<\/p>\n

Golden sunlight on tree tops,
\nIn the air a fall-like chill,
\nLow pink-gray clouds breaking up,
\nAbove an unseen bird trills\u2026<\/p>\n

A light breeze stirs the roses,
\nThe dogs are sniffing about,
\nSquirrels leaping from branch to branch,
\nLooks like the hay needs to be cut.<\/p>\n

A cardinal on the hummingbird feeder,
\nThe tiny birds hovering nearby,
\nThey wait for the intruder to depart,
\nThen buzz in to resupply.<\/p>\n

The world frets at every report,
\nPoliticians each issue a self-serving warning,
\nBut here in this little corner of woods,
\nAnother glorious morning.<\/p>\n
