Spectacular lighting &#8211; some of it lasting 5 or 6 seconds it seemed, lighting up the back yard and woods in this weird, too bright, unearthly light. And then huge crashes, but puppies not happy, lots of barking for about an hour\u2026 And the rain came down in buckets for about 45 minutes&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Arrias<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vicsocotra.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/arrias_muse1.png\" width=\"214\" height=\"288\" \/>Storm<\/p>\n<p>Standing guard o\u2019er the enchanted swamp,<br \/>\nGreat green giants dressed in gray,<br \/>\nDark clouds gathering above,<br \/>\nIn the gusts they begin to sway.<\/p>\n<p>The God of Thunder approaches<br \/>\nSwinging his mighty hammer,<br \/>\nThe dogs bark in righteous anger,<br \/>\nAdding to the general clamor.<\/p>\n<p>Rain pours down, the giants shake,<br \/>\nA split second, the lightning flashes,<br \/>\nThe swamp lit by an unearthly light,<br \/>\nThor\u2019s mighty hammer crashes.<\/p>\n<p>Again and again he swings his hammer,<br \/>\nAgain and again the earth trembles &#8211; BOOM!<br \/>\nLoud and brilliant all around,<br \/>\nAs if \u2018twere the tromp of DOOM!<\/p>\n<p>The rain pours down, a torrent,<br \/>\nAs if to wash the earth clean,<br \/>\nThor\u2019s hammer crashes midst the cascade,<br \/>\nTis a frightful scene!<\/p>\n<p>The dogs bark in anger,<br \/>\nBut then all in a rush<br \/>\nThe rain ends, The thunder God is gone,<br \/>\nAnd over the swamp a hush!<\/p>\n<p>Another hot day and humid,<br \/>\nAnother night for Thor to stomp,<br \/>\nMaking his way across the crowded wood,<br \/>\nJust another storm in the Swamp\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2022 Arrias<br \/>\nwww.vicsocotra.com<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Author&#8217;s Note: Spectacular thunder and lightning storm, started right around sunset, so I could see the trees in this sort of fog, and then it got really dark, really quick. 15 minutes into it came a tornado warning.
