{"id":22947,"date":"2022-01-11T21:24:35","date_gmt":"2022-01-11T21:24:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vicsocotra.com\/wordpress\/?p=22947"},"modified":"2022-01-11T21:25:19","modified_gmt":"2022-01-11T21:25:19","slug":"22947","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vicsocotra.com\/wordpress\/22947\/","title":{"rendered":"Arrias: Oaths"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Author&#8217;s Note: My Muse has some thoughts\u2026<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Arrias<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vicsocotra.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Arrias.jpg\" width=\"214\" height=\"288\" \/>Oaths<\/p>\n<p>\u2019Tis a plague upon all our houses,<br \/>\nComes dissent, then murder most foul,<br \/>\nWords stand on their heads,<br \/>\nIn their graves the Founders growl.<\/p>\n<p>Oaths are given then broken,<br \/>\nBut just who is doing the breaking?<br \/>\nAre they patriots or hypocrites?<br \/>\nFreedom is attacked, Lady Liberty is aching.<\/p>\n<p>The law is supposed to be blind,<br \/>\nApplied equally without any squint,<br \/>\nYet something seems amiss,<br \/>\nWas this the Founder\u2019s intent?<\/p>\n<p>Is this what the Founders constructed,<br \/>\nOr have others twisted their declarations?<br \/>\nWise words for all the ages<br \/>\nTortured into the foulest vituperations.<\/p>\n<p>They seek power which always corrupts,<br \/>\nTo gain it they do what law proscribes,<br \/>\nApply the law with malice,<br \/>\nAnd then split us into tribes.<\/p>\n<p>Accuse without any basis,<br \/>\nNay, accuse when to the oaths one hews,<br \/>\nWhen oaths &#8211; and rights &#8211; are honored,<br \/>\nAnd to one\u2019s word is true.<\/p>\n<p>\u2019Tis an evil manifestation,<br \/>\nThat has gripped the minds of some,<br \/>\nWe must remember In God We Trust;<br \/>\nAnd that someday the truth will come.<\/p>\n<p>We hold to our solemn oaths,<br \/>\nNo matter what these others may say,<br \/>\nTruth is on the side of Liberty,<br \/>\nThe Truth will have its day.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2022 Arrias<br \/>\nwww.vicsocotra.com<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Author&#8217;s Note: My Muse has some thoughts\u2026 &#8211; Arrias Oaths \u2019Tis a plague upon all our houses, Comes dissent, then murder most foul, Words stand on their heads, In their graves the Founders growl.
