There is a lot going on, since our Congress needs to take a break while confronting the assorted emergencies they were elected to solve. We carry the world in our bellies. That took us tens of millions of minutes of striving for &#8212; they think it takes 24 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the blind old poet Milton sorta said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Should intermitted vengeance arm again<br \/>His red right hand to plague us? What if all<br \/>Her stores were opened, and this firmament<br \/>Of Hell should spout her cataracts of fire,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>This is what I say:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please forgive us (bad eyes make it impossible to see)<br \/>If we appear unkind (bad ears make it impossible to know)<br \/>But all young fools tell us<br \/>It&#8217;s all in our minds<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Down in the meadow<br \/>The old lion stirs<br \/>We put our paw &#8216;cross our mouth<br \/>We got no use for words<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Poor young fools<br \/>With their handfuls of cell glow<br \/>Poor young fools<br \/>Got no way to know<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Think they&#8217;ve got us eating<br \/>They&#8217;ve got us eating<br \/>They&#8217;ve got us eating<br \/>Right out of their hands<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We mean them no harm (well, that&#8217;s impossible to say)<br \/>When we tell \u2018em they&#8217;re blind (maybe that\u2019s possible to know)<br \/>Give these suckers an even break<br \/>They\u2019ll lose it all, every time<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The airborne black crows circle<br \/>Over the barren fields<br \/>The jasmine vines hang harmlessly<br \/>And the old lion yields<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the walls will be written in victim blood<br \/>(Police won\u2019t investigate due to tremendous cost)<br \/>On the house walls will be written \u201cRed right hand\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">That, the internet says, is from \u201cParadise Lost\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Just old-splaining (not justifying, let alone, representing, mind you) the ways of the gods to man. For as wolves we shall succeed for teachers, heinous wolves, for whom all of Heaven\u2019s mysteries to our own vile ends shall turn, not of lucre and ambition, but for the truth without ideology, superstition, and traditions taint. We will leave accountings only in written records pure.
