<\/p>\nEditor’s Note: This is a remarkable day, with possibly the state of the Union in the balance. I have tried to track the big story- Texas and 17 states, along with the Trump Campaign and led by a sitting Senator went before the Supreme Court this morning. They argue that battleground states modified their voting rules without legislative approval and thus disenfranchised their voters. This is unconstitutional, according to the suit. The result could result in some- all?- electoral votes being nullified. Or, the SCOTUS could tell them to take a hike. Word on the street at noon is that the high Court issued a decree stipulating the defendant states- Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Georgia- must respond in some manner by three o’clock this afternoon. You would think that would be bigger news than Hunter Biden’s tax issues, but this has been a strange year, hasn’t it? Maybe we will have an actual President Elect before dinner- or another tumultuous chapter in this improbable year. More as it happens! In the meantime, Marlow contributes his own view of this amazing situation.<\/p>\n

Plague High-waters <\/p>\n
Author\u2019s note: Written during this virus\u2019s early summer days when cases were rising locally and no help seemed on the way, it felt like we were trapped on our rooftop, as plague floodwaters chased us up. Now it appears the real high-waters are here as the daily new infections curve is a straight line up. <\/p>\n

\nAll our jobs n homes bein\u2019 taken away
\nCapital cities Big Boys lookin’ east and west
\nFrom their swamps\u2019 darkest rooms, done lost their minds
\nThey made it to their vacation cities
\nAin\u2019t got cares for us, nor any time
\nNothing standing there
\nPlague cases everywhere <\/p>\n
Virus cases risin\u2019 — our pantries\u2019re empty
\nOur mouths are dry
\nVirus chills and fevers are beatin\u2019 us down
\nLungs fillin\u2019 up, feelin\u2019 we\u2019re about to drown
\nVirus didn\u2019t come from on high
\nEasterners dropped this hammer on the sly
\nCountry\u2019s cups\u2019re empty
\nAnd all our mouths\u2019re dry
\nThis old, dirty plague highwaters are on the rise <\/p>\n
Virus cases risin’, our bank accounts are slidin’ down
\nFolks lose their possessions — rich folks are leaving town
\nSome don\u2019t like it, try to shake it but virus just breaks em all
\nThey become another sad-ass stat on a wall
\nMedia says, “you dance with whom they tell you to
\nOr you don’t dance at all.”

\nThings are fast-breakin’ up out there
