The Hollow Men<\/p>\n
A trillion more for poor gals and guys<\/p>\n
Unos
\nThey are hollow men
\nThey are the stuffed shirt men
\nLeaning together
\nMouths filled with strawmen. These asses!
\nTheir smooth voices hoarsen, when
\nIdeas they whisper together
\nAre empty, quiet and meaningless
\nAs field mouse farts in tall grass
\nThey are rats who feed us broken glass
\nOn large empty TV screens
\nThey shape messages without substance, futures without color
\nThey speak in signs and wonders
\nThey are paralyzed by their empty gestures and fake emotion
\nThose who have gone before us
\nTo life’s promised kingdom
\nRemember to pray for us – that all is not lost
\nSave out restless souls, but not
\nThe hollow men
\nThe stuffed shirt men<\/p>\n

\nDC’s a dead land
\nIt is a desert land
\nFull of stonemen statues
\nOnce these giants roamed there, now they suffer
\nThe empty supplications of hollow men
\nAs the twinkle of America’s fading star flickers
\nIs it like this
\nIn life’s coming kingdom
\nWill we wake alone
\nAt the hour when we are called
\nTrembling with expectations of bliss
\nOr will our prayers fall on broken stone<\/p>\n

Tres
\nOn their televised events where they all put on airs
\nOr when they’re standing on Capitol steps with their frozen stares
\nWhat lightens the night and the burden one bears
\nIs a game of political musical chairs<\/p>\n
When the debate drags on, no one plays, no one cheers
\nWe voters tune them out and drink while sitting on the stairs
\nBefore we fall asleep like a bunch of old bears
\nWe join in their game of musical chairs<\/p>\n
We skip, dance, parade and prance
\nThey tell us chances are great we’ll win
\nIf an empty chair is right there
\nWhere you could plop right in<\/p>\n
Each time there is one less chair
\nThere’s one less playing too
\nBut if you’re not late and you concentrate
\nIt won’t be you<\/p>\n
You never know if fast or slow
\nWill win the prize
\nJust listen closely and just hope mostly
\nThere’s no October surprise<\/p>\n
